Paybill Number

200222

NHIF (National Hospital Insurance Fund) was officially replaced by the Social Health Authority (SHA) on 1 October 2024 under the Social Health Insurance Act, 2023. All NHIF services, hospitals, and coverage have transitioned to SHA.

The paybill number for health contributions remains 200222 — the same number previously used for NHIF. Use your National ID number as the account number.

Salaried employees have contributions deducted automatically by their employer at 2.75% of gross salary (minimum Ksh 300 per month). Self-employed and informal sector workers must first complete a means test via the Afya Yangu portal at afyayangu.go.ke or by dialling *147# to determine their monthly amount.

Contributions are due by the 9th of every month. Late payment attracts a 2% penalty.
